About Me
Hi there! My name is Lanna Russell. I am a singer/actor from Central New York, born and raised in the awesome city of Utica, NY. I spent my early years playing clarinet in the school band, singing in choir, and playing basketball. I found my passion for theatre once I entered 7th grade and did my first ever musical; Aladdin Jr. After Aladdin, I began studying opera and musical theatre voice. Since then, I have taken part in many community theatre and regional productions ranging from Deloris Van Cartier in Sister Act to Hodel in Fiddler On The Roof to Joanne in Rent.
I started my higher education journey in 2021 at Ithaca College’s School of Music, Theatre, and Dance where I’m earning my BFA in musical theatre. Since being a student at Ithaca, I have performed professionally with The Rev Theatre Company in Auburn, NY in their production of The Hunchback of Notre Dame and most recently at Grandstreet Theatre in Helena, Montana in their production of Little Shop of Horrors.
I am especially interested in strong female characters in the Golden Age and Contemporary canon. With over 12 years of vocal training, I have developed a versatile instrument that covers a wide range of styles. I am passionate about new works and the classics. I strive to bring positive and collaborative energy into any room I enter.
Outside of performing, I spend my free time binging real housewives or reading whatever new fantasy novel I can get my hands on. I am also hoping to become a theatre educator in the near future with the hopes that I can inspire the next generation of artists in the same way that I have been.
I am thrilled that you're visiting my website and I am so excited to share my artistry with you!
